Cosimo Vitale in arte Covi
Abbandona ben presto gli studi universitari di Milano per dedicarsi alla pittura.
Di fatto nella capitale lombarda è stato a contatto con gruppi di artisti intellettuali d'avanguardia, maturando la sua espressione e sensibilità artistica. Nel 1982 si trasferisce in maremma, ove frequenta lo studio d'arte del M° Walter Sabatelli, completando la conoscenza delle tecniche pittoriche. Pittore colorista dalla tavolozza ricca ed armoniosa,inventa attraverso il dato naturale nuove forme e nuovi colori che si sostituiscono alla natura, diventando essi stessi natura.
Ha partecipato a rassegne locali e nazionali come: l'Arte figurativa nelle tradizioni sportive in maremma promossa dal Panathlon International Club Grosseto nell'ottobre del 1991, al Frontone di Orbetello nel1993.L' edizione di valore di scambio promossa dall'associazione Arte Etruria Oggilo ha portato a Napoli nel giugno 1993,a Venezia nel maggio 1994 e a Firenze nel maggio 1997 .Nel 1995 con laRassegna internazionale d'arte contemporanea Celtracon espone al Cassero Mediceo a Grosseto ne Il sogno del cavallo….) con la presenza del critico d'atre Giorgio Celli.
Nel 1996.. mostra personale alla Galleria P. Pascucci, e al Hotel Granduca con opere di grande formato.
Nel 1997 vince il primo premio con un paesaggio ad olio nel concorso di pittura,( sezione paesaggio), a Castiglioncello nel castello Pasquini ,promosso dalla FENALc di LIVORNO. Nel 2003 partecipa nella rassegna i nostri volti al museo archeologico, e a gennaio 2004, espone nello stesso spazio, in una personale antologica oltre 80 dipinti tra disegni ,acquarelli e oli di grande formato, con il patrocinio del comune di Grosseto.

Colorista nato, è attratto dal paesaggio solare della Maremma e dai suoi soggetti (papaveri rosseggianti che divorano il giallo del grano, mandrie brade in sosta e macchia mediterranea) che gli consentono di carpire la luce e imprigionarla nel colore secondo le concezioni del plenairismo;
ma in Covi assistiamo ad una rivincita brutale del colore, della luce e dell'aria aperta ,ad un divisionismo a macchia che esalta i toni più alti del registro cromatico. Primo piano e sfondo sono coinvolti in una amalgama che deforma il simbolo ed altera il colore per obbedire all'' esigenza espressiva dell' Artista . Nell' evocazione del oggetto Covi tende ad una certa astrazione e questo punteggiare con la macchia ,questo liberarsi dal rigore del reale ha lo scopo di portare la forma a svelare il segreto dei suoi attributi plastici. Tonalità anche complementari vengono avvicinate con l'' entusiasmo per le gioie dinamiche, suscitate dai toni talvolta crudi senza che venga meno la loro intensità. Ciò serve a scavare ,a penetrare, e in sostanza ad idealizzare l'oggetto secondo la sensibilità cromatica dell'Artista .
